Vilniaus planas has been working hand-in-hand with Vilnius City Municipality for over 20 years. We are currently working on an infrastructure project which consists of the reconstruction of streets and bicycle paths to make the connection to the city centre smoother. Other projects we work on are public use green area projects.

The project is concentrated on creating a safe and effective organization of bicycle traffic in Vilnius city. The project is designed according to BIM requirements. Both geometry and attribute information was developed for the LOD300.

For us, it is important to make better quality and smooth connections between city centre and suburbs and enable citizens to use bicycles instead of cars in their daily commutes. It is also important for the city because it seeks to lower its carbon footprint and become one of the greenest cities in the world.

The Challenge

The main challenge was to find a balance, that both cars and bicycles would benefit from design and would share the space in a safe and yet efficient way. Traffic signs played a major role in regulating the relationship between different means of transport and having them in 3D and ‘BIM ready’ was a nice add-on.

Why did we use AUTOSIGN and how did it help us with our efforts?

CGS Labs Autosign product helped us a lot in this project. It was easy to create a 3D sign in the style we wanted and according to our traffic laws. At the same time, the 3D model was ready for BIM. It is amazing.

" The main advantage of using CGS Labs software is the increase in productivity in our daily design work. "

We have also used the CGS Labs Autopath to generate vehicle swept paths. Such tools help us minimise the risk of mistakes and time for corrections later on in the project lifecycle.

“We do recommend using CGS Labs products.

Any civil engineering company involved in such projects as we are should have a look
at them and give them a try.”
